4th CCC LGBTQ+ Summit to be held online May 4-5, 2022

The 4th Annual CCC LGBTQ+ Summit will be held online May 4‐5, 2022, with the theme of “Unapologetic: Fighting for the Liberation of Queer, Transgender, and Non-Binary Students.”” The Call for Presentations is now open with an extended deadline of January 10, 2022 to submit a proposal online. Registration is also now open..

"It would have been unimaginable only a few years ago that almost 950 people would come together to strategize on serving queer and trans students in the Community College System,” says Summit co-lead Dr. Emilie Mitchell about the 2021 Summit. “I am so excited for this year's Summit and for all the tremendous work we will do together."

The CCC LGBTQ+ Summit is an opportunity to collaborate with members of the California CommunityCollege campuses at all levels. We will learn from each other’s innovative and successful ideas that will transform campuses so that we better serve and affirm LGBTQ+ students. The summit is focused on improving not only individual community college campuses, but encouraging changes at the structural level as well.

The Summit is co-led by Salvador Navarro and Dr. Emilie Michell, working with a state-wide Planning Team. “As a gay men of color, immigrant, first-generation and ESL student, being involved in this summit is a dream come true!” says Sal.

The Summit receives generous financial support from the Chancellor's Office of the CCC, and sponsorship opportunities will be announced soon.

Questions about the Summit may be directed to the co-leads at MitcheE@arc.losrios.edu or snavarro@elcamino.edu.
